The online self-assessment which is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnosis theory provides you with eight body constitution types self-assessment, including Qi Deficiency, Yang Deficiency, Yin Deficiency, Phlegm-Dampness, Damp-Heat, Blood Stagnation, Qi Stagnation and Special Constitution.


The contents and standards of this test follow those listed in the “Classification and Assessment of TCM Body Constitutions”, officially published on April 9, 2009 by the Chinese Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as “The Study of TCM Body Constitutions”. It's written by Professor Wang Qi from the Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. These standards guide and standardize the academic standards for TCM research and applications. The aim is to identify the body constitutions and provide information and basis for treatment and prevention of body constitution-related diseases, thus allowing the categorization of body constitutions to be scientific and standardized. The standards list the body constitutions as nine types: Balanced, Qi Deficiency, Yang Deficiency, Yin Deficiency, Phlegm-Dampness, Damp-Heat, Blood Stagnation, Qi Stagnation, and Special Constitution. The categories were defined with applications from epidemiology, immunology, molecule biology, genetics, mathematical statistics, and other interdisciplinary methods. The list is a standardised tool for the identification of body constitutions, established and repeatedly supported by experts in the fields of TCM clinical, epidemiology, and body constitutions.


There are three types of test results for each body constitution: definitely; highly possible, and not applicable. Please record your own results after the test. The website also provides simple characteristics and symptoms of each body constitution. Your test result could be only one type or a mixture of various types of body constitution.
